Sophie Amick- Owner of the Yoga Room since 2004.

Born in Nice and raised in the French Alpes, Sophie became a certified yoga instructor in 2001. Her path in yoga began ten years ago and turned into a way of life. Her goal at The Yoga Room is to provide students with tools to face the challenges of life in a healthy body and a peaceful mind. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge of Yoga. She especially favors the individual approach; the Yoga teaching being all about the student, on that day, at that moment. Sophie's teaching is influenced by a variety of styles which allow her to create a program adapted to the student's needs whether to gain strength or flexibility, to release stress, or to address a specific health or physical condition.

I became a committed yoga student in 1998, studying Integral Hatha Yoga under Judean Drescher, taking classes from her at least twice weekly.  I attended a month-long teacher training at Satchidananda Ashram in 2001 and received certification there.  I began teaching yoga that same year.  I returned to the Ashram in 2002 and received further certification, this time in teaching yoga to children.  I continue to take classes and attend workshops.  I plan to receiver further certification.
I teach from the Integral Hatha tradition, emphasizing health and wholeness of body-mind-spirit.  I am open to teaching all ages and love teaching inter-generational classes.  Teaching partner yoga is of special interest to me.
I believe whole-heartedly in the benefits of yoga to the individual community and the peace of the world.
I have taught privately to those with physical challenges, e.g., M.S.; back and neck problems; prolapsed bladder and diabetes.  I have taught chair yoga to the elderly.  I am open to teaching anyone at any age interested in deepening his/her yoga practice.

Judean Drescher

"Easeful body, peaceful mind, useful life.".  These are the benefits of the practice of yoga as presented by Sri Swami Satchidananda, the founder of Integral Yoga, the tradition from which Judean Drescher teaches.  Judean has earned certification to teach Beginner through Advanced Asanas and Pranayama, Raja Yoga, and Meditation.  She brings to this training, years of study of dance, including majoring in dance at Texas Woman's University.

Of particular interest to her is the adaptation of the yogic practices to benefit those with injuries or with challenges such as Parkinson's Disease.  Her approach to teaching reflects the concept of yoga as a discipline of the mind as much as of the body.  Each class includes the physical poses, deep relaxation, breathing practice, and a brief meditation.

email: kate @ yogacoopsavannah.com
phone: (912) 695-9990
website: http://www.katetayloryoga.com

I began practicing yoga in 1998, to balance the hectic pace of my professional life. Since then yoga has transformed from an occasional hobby into my vocation. My teaching journey began when I completed my 230 hour Yoga teacher training at the Asheville Yoga Center. In November and December of 2007, I studied at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore India. For more information on that experience, check out my blog (http://www.katetayloryoga.com/blog). In 2008, I completed David Swenson's Ashtanga Teacher Training Course in Winter Park, Florida. Most recently, I completed a second 200+ hour training in Baptiste Style Power Yoga with Mark White in Jacksonville, FL. I am also certified to teach yoga to senior citizens through the Silver Age Yoga program based in San Diego. My classes typically combine a series of dynamic, flowing poses with focused instruction about proper alignment.

I am now offering yoga instruction at the Yoga Co-op at Ashram Savannah or the privacy of your own home. My one-on-one teaching style focuses on meeting the needs of the individual student. Based on a student’s particular goals, I will develop a personalized asana (physical poses) and pranayama (breathing) practice.
